The appointed director, Kim Tuin, was given the task to create a lively place where people have the opportunity to meet up. That is why room has been made for a library, six workshop areas and a place for an artist in residence. Once permits have come through, a hotel will be placed above the factory hall.
Instead of having to come up with a programma themselves, Het Hem provides the opportunity 4 times per year to fill the 9.000 squared meter rooms how they see fit. Patta's founders; Sabajo and Schmidt will be the first ones to do just so.
Het Hem would like to focus on the best and promising contemporary artists. That way the center can target a divers and large audience to enjoy their spaces. That is also why they have chosen for Schmidt and Sabajo to kick off as artist in residence. They stand close to the contemporary culture of this day's society have the talent to make something out of nothing. Even though the have no experience with putting together large scale exhibitions.
