New brand: Kangol

Connect high-quality with headwear, interesting history and a well-known kangaroo logo and then you will end up at Kangol.
The founder Jacques Speiregen returned from the First World War in 1918 and started working as an importer of Basque berets. He became very involved in producing and distributing the products over the next 20 years. In 1938 he took the step to distinguish himself from the organization and founded Kangol. It is not entirely clear where the name of the brand comes from. It is believed by many that K stands for knitting, ANG for angora and OL for wool.
Kangol really became famous when they supplied berets to the British army in World War II. After the war ended, they continued the fame by equipping the English Olympic team with berets for the opening ceremony in 1948.
After this they’ve also became known in the music and golf industry, and hats were even created for the cabin crew of British Airways. In 1983, it became clear that Kangol needed a logo that would set the brand apart. The factory had experimented with many logos, including animal logo’s. Because Americans often came into the store to look for the "kangaroo" hats, it was quickly decided that the logo had to become a kangaroo.
Today, Kangol has become a well-known brand that crosses generations and cultures. They aim to blend the best of British heritage with retro hip hop and future fashion, delighting the next generation of consumers while honoring the people who built the brand.
We are super happy to add Kangol to our collection. The brand fits well with the streetwear that we sell and that’s why it can easily be combined with the clothing that we have been selling for a longer period.
